Package Inserts for H1N1 Vaccines: Read for Yourself

Thursday October 15, 2009

In trying to present some facts about the vaccines and H1N1 (swine flu), I strive for objectivity. When I present my opinion or feelings about something, I preface it as such. However, some people still think that there are "facts" that are hidden, or data that are not reported.

Therefore, in the interest of objectivity, I am posting links to all of the package inserts for the H1N1 vaccines. Read for yourself. Decide for yourself.

These inserts have tons of information: how the clinical trials were conducted and with how many participants, ingredients of the vaccines, contraindications, how the vaccines are to be administered and information about side effects.

HOWEVER, please read carefully! The information about the clinical trials, effectiveness and the side effects noted are for the SEASONAL FLU VACCINE in all cases, since the vaccines are made the exact same way with the exact same ingredients (just the virus used in the H1N1 vaccine is different). If it is a little confusing when you are reading, remember that the H1N1 vaccine is often referred to as "monovalent," meaning it is just targeting one strain of flu - the seasonal flu vaccines are trivalent (meaning 3 strains of flu are included).

Injectible vaccine - the flu "shot" is being produced by 3 different companies:

Anyone who is considering getting any of these vaccines should read the ENTIRE package insert from the manufacturers, so each individual can make the choice knowing what the risks are. Don’t just take the government and pharmaceutical’s blanket statement that they are safe without giving any details (which they are doing). There are several manufacturers who are making the vaccine, and each has different ingredients AND possible side effects. I was really surprised to learn that the Flumist nasal spray contained PIG Gelatin so there is no way I would get this, as I do not allow ANY pork product into my body. Before anyone makes a choice about which vaccine to get (if any) they should check online or request from the healthcare provider give them a copy of the package insert. Make a decision based on the package insert ALONE and NOT what you’re hearing from the news or government.

If you do a search on the word pregnant or pregnancy within the insert .pdf you will find that there are statements to the effect that it has not been determined if the vaccines are safe for pregnant women. I am dumbfounded as to why THEY are pushing this vaccine when its safety has not been determined!

Everyone should be reading those package inserts before making a decision for themselves or their children! They are alarming!
