Salmonellosis is a serious food-borne illness that is usually the result of eating food contaminated with the feces from an infected animal or person. Read all about salmonella.

Symptoms usually start anywhere from six to 72 hours after becoming infected with salmonella bacteria. They include:

  • Headache
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Fever (almost always present)
  • Dehydration, especially in babies and older adults.
