Definition: Signs that indicate that a patient has a hemorrhagic fever, like ebola. Many of these signs may also indicate other diseases and conditions, such as hepatitis C, vasculitis or vitamin C deficiency.
Hemorrhagic signs include:
- Bleeding gums
- Bleeding from mouth, nose (called epistaxis), or ears
- Bloody diarrhea
- Rash of small spots (petechiae) which may be counted using the tourniquet test
- Large blotches (ecchymoses)
