You can make ORS at home, though you'll need to use a different recipe.

Prep Time: 03 minutes

Cook Time: 0 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2.6 g Sodium Chloride
  • 2.9 g Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate (OR 2.5 g Sodium Bicarbonate)
  • 1.5 g Potassium Chloride
  • 13.5 g Anhydrous Glucose (OR 14.85 g Glucose Monohydrate)

Preparation:

Combine the above ingredients and dissolve them in 1 liter of clean drinking water.

ORS solution should be used within 24 hours. Leftover ORS solution should be thrown away and a new batch made. ORS can be drunk instead of water to treat severe diarrhea and vomiting when recommended by your doctor.
