Definition: A combination of glucose and electrolytes used to treat diarrhea by replacing lost fluids; essentially contain glucose and sodium chloride, though pharmacy formulations also include potassium chloride and sodium citrate.

These can be high osmolarity or reduced osmolarity (recommended), which refers to the ratio of salts and sugar to water.
