Autografts

Definition: Autografts are the transfer of tissue, bone, or other body parts from one place to another on the same person.

See also: grafts, allografts (homografts) and xenografts

Examples: A skin graft is usually autografted. For example, skin is taken from the buttocks and grafted onto the arm of the same person. Autografting reduces the risk of transplant rejection.
