Allograft- Homograft

From About.com

Definition: An allograft is the transfer a piece of tissue, bone, or other body part from one subject to another of the same species, but with a different genetic type. So grafting from one twin to the other is not an example of an allograft because twins share the same genetic makeup.

Also see definitions for: graft, autograft, and xenograft.

Also Known As: homograft
Examples: A cornea can be allografted from a brain dead donor to a recipient, improving the vision of the recipient markedly. A graft from one human to another human, or from a rabbit to another rabbit, are both examples of allografts.
